In March, Bongo turned 9 years old and we had hoped that he would no longer have to spend his birthday at our shelter. Unfortunately in vain – because Bongo is still with us. In October 2021, the beautiful and impressive senior dog came to us at the animal shelter (his owner had fallen ill and had to leave the island) in Calvià. None of us would ever have expected that we still haven’t been able to find a suitable family for him.

In October it will be 3 years, an incredibly long time – Bongo’s precious lifetime, which he could have spent with his own people. Ok, looking back doesn’t get us anywhere here – and that’s why we only want to look forward – FOR Bongo. The past years have shaped him and made him who he is today. A very lovable, mostly cosy, sometimes a little grumpy, but still very people-oriented senior dog – our “Bongo Bear”. How much we would love to let him go – how happy we would be if he could finally find his humans.

Not much has changed in our wish list. People, preferably older, without children and also without cats, with a finca or a house with a garden, alternatively a flat on the ground floor – but definitely in a quiet, natural and low-stress environment. Bongo would like to finally arrive and enjoy the rest of his life in peace – but please make sure he has a family connection. Lying in the garden or on the terrace in the sun, nice walks together through nature and of course lots of cuddles, but please not so much stress – that would be just right for this great male dog. Bongo already chooses his people – but if he trusts then he trusts them completely. Many people have already got to know him and everyone is delighted with him. But no one has yet been able to fulfil his greatest wish – a real “forever home”.

Incidentally, we believe that Bongo would definitely be happy to have another dog friend, or rather a female dog friend, who is older, calmer and of course really well tolerated. Apart from that, Bongo doesn’t necessarily need much contact with other dogs – his humans are much more important to him. Please help us and share our search again – he shouldn’t have to spend the full 3 years at the shelter (in October) here with us 🙏🏻.
