This is Finn …

This wonderful setter has been with us at SOS Animal in Calvià for a few weeks now. Finn is five years old and a really typical setter. First of all he has all the wonderful typical characteristics that this breed brings with it. Incredibly lovable, friendly, affectionate, gentle in nature and very sociable. And this applies to both – people and other dogs. Finn is simply special and wonderful.

Even though he definitely hunted in the past, he is absolutely suitable as a family dog. However, his new owners should not necessarily be novice dog owners and should have already familiarised themselves with this breed in order to really do him justice. Finn has a typical Setter temperament, especially outdoors, and is very attentive to everything that is going on – in other words, he is on high alert, especially when out. He needs people who really have a lot of time for him and who are absolutely nature-loving themselves and want to exercise with him a lot.

As a hunting dog, Finn needs clarity, but absolutely gentle guidance and really sufficient activity – also for his head. Especially at the beginning, it will probably not be possible to walk him off the lead – but once a good and intensive relationship of trust has been established, things will probably look different later on. Because he is actually really easy to lead. Finn is a very sensitive dog who can very quickly build up an emotional bond with his humans, and he also needs closeness.
