ABOUT US

SOS Animal Association: a non-profit association founded in 1995 with the aim of helping suffering animals in Majorca and in collaboration with the Calvià municipality, rescuing the majority of dogs and cats brought in by individuals and the municipal shelter.

SUCCESSES

For example rescuing numerous dogs and cats from unnecessary euthanasia as well as implementing birth control measures for feral cats in collaboration with the Calvià municipality, district veterinary clinics, and later with BALDEA (Federation of Animal Welfare Associations).

CHALLENGES

Allocation of funds for infrastructure expansion and proper care of animals. Recruiting more volunteer helpers and increasing membership numbers. Expanding the birth control campaign for stray cats and promoting knowledge about the behavior and needs of pets.

Identification & Neutering

ATTENTION OWNERS OF REGISTERED CATS IN CALVIÀ!

Every cat that goes outdoors must be spayed/neutered and identified with a microchip. This is mandatory according to the animal welfare ordinance of Calvià. Starting from the end of September, this requirement applies to ALL cats, including those that do not go outdoors or live in apartments. Get information from a veterinarian in the municipality.

Subventions from the Townhall Calvia:

  • 30€ Chip
  • 40€ Neutering of male cats
  • 80€ Neutering of female cats
