In this practice we combine two styles of yoga in one practice, combining the benefits of passive postures with more dynamic sequences and standing postures. I would like to offer you the complement of yin and yang to provide physical and spiritual balance. Yin is a feminine energy, passive and cooling, and yang is a masculine energy, dynamic and warming. One cannot exist without the other. Yin yoga consists of more passive postures that are held over a longer period of time to focus on the connective tissues, such as ligaments, rather than the muscles. Yang yoga warms the body and stretches and strengthens the muscles. By combining the two styles of yoga, Yin-Yang yoga improves energy and fitness while promoting relaxation and healing.
